WordWrite Communications, one of Pittsburgh’s fastest-growing public relations and social media firms, has promoted Jason Snyder to senior vice president.
Snyder, a vice president and six-year veteran of WordWrite, has led many of the agency’s largest and most complex accounts, including Buck Consultants, Pfizer, Inc. and West Penn Allegheny Health System.
“During the two worst economic years since the Great Depression, WordWrite has doubled in size,” said WordWrite CEO and founder Paul Furiga. “Jason’s contributions to this growth have been substantial. “Our clients and our WordWrite team appreciate Jason’s strategic insights and leadership, especially in complicated crisis and business to business communications situations,” Furiga said.
Snyder’s promotion caps a period in which WordWrite doubled its revenue, added significantly to its staff and tripled its office space when it moved Downtown in August 2011.
Snyder received his B.A. in journalism from the University of Pittsburgh Johnstown and began his career in daily journalism at the Bedford Gazette and then the Butler Eagle before entering the corporate world. Prior to joining WordWrite in 2006, Snyder worked for the Oncology Nursing Society, Alcoa, Inc. and BNY Mellon Financial in successively progressive corporate communications roles.

Redstone Presbyterian SeniorCare, better known as Redstone Highlands Senior Living Communities, was recently named one of Pittsburgh’s healthiest employers at the Pittsburgh Business Times’ first-ever awards luncheon.
The Healthiest Employers of Western Pennsylvania were decided upon a web-based survey composed of 75 scored questions focused on their corporate wellness program and strategy. An algorithm then ranks each organization based on the responses in comparison to others.
With three locations throughout Western Pennsylvania, Redstone Highlands has more than 400 employees. Redstone’s wellness program is extended to all employees, including those not covered by the organization’s health insurance coverage. Their comprehensive wellness culture includes preventive opportunities, as well as personalized wellness coach advisement. The program features a Health Tracks Rewards program as an incentive, and rewards are earned through completion of wellness exercises.
“The awards were an example of the hard work that is being done by local companies in the area of wellness,” said Diane P. Holder, president and CEO of UPMC Health Plan, “a wellness program was key for companies as much as keeping its other assets in good health and repair.”
Redstone Highlands is a Christian, non-profit senior living organization open to all faiths, that is dedicated to providing alternatives and high quality services that help to meet the changing needs of the community. They have been a client of WordWrite Communications since February 2009.

Earlier this month, WordWrite Communications president and CEO, Paul Furiga, and account executive, Samantha Wannemacher, traveled to New York City to present at the 2011 Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Digital Impact Conference.

Within the public relations industry, digital innovation has never been more important or accessible. At the PRSA 2011 Digital Impact Conference, "Building Knowledge, Skills and Value for the New Decade," keynote speakers and presenters shared case studies, new technologies, and opportunities where communicators may take the lead in digital innovation. The fourth annual event offered two full days of shared knowledge and new thinking on topics from mobile marketing to personal branding, from speakers including senior leaders at Microsoft and Google.
Paul and Samantha's presentation was titled, "Beyond Your Zappos Case Study: B2B Social Media Strategies for the Rest of Us." They selected this topic, because although everyone hears about the successful social media efforts of Zappos, Southwest Airlines, and other large consumer corporations, the 94 percent of U.S. companies with sales of $1 million or less are having trouble figuring out how to apply social media strategies for THEIR businesses. The presentation contained case studies, best practices and social media strategies and tactics for smaller, less “brand name” business-to-business clients.
You can view the full PowerPoint presentation on the WordWrite Slideshare page here. In addition, we have made the tools from the presentation available to get you started in social media as a Business-to-Business or SMB company here.
Paul also wrote two blog posts containing outtakes and observations from one of his favorite presentations by the American Red Cross. You can find these posts on our Storytelling blog.
