WordWrite client honored with a Healthiest Employer of Western Pennsylvania Award

Redstone Presbyterian SeniorCare, better known as Redstone Highlands Senior Living Communities, was recently named one of Pittsburgh’s healthiest employers at the Pittsburgh Business Times’ first-ever awards luncheon.

The Healthiest Employers of Western Pennsylvania were decided upon a web-based survey composed of 75 scored questions focused on their corporate wellness program and strategy. An algorithm then ranks each organization based on the responses in comparison to others.

With three locations throughout Western Pennsylvania, Redstone Highlands has more than 400 employees. Redstone’s wellness program is extended to all employees, including those not covered by the organization’s health insurance coverage. Their comprehensive wellness culture includes preventive opportunities, as well as personalized wellness coach advisement. The program features a Health Tracks Rewards program as an incentive, and rewards are earned through completion of wellness exercises.

“The awards were an example of the hard work that is being done by local companies in the area of wellness,” said Diane P. Holder, president and CEO of UPMC Health Plan, “a wellness program was key for companies as much as keeping its other assets in good health and repair.”

Redstone Highlands is a Christian, non-profit senior living organization open to all faiths, that is dedicated to providing alternatives and high quality services that help to meet the changing needs of the community. They have been a client of WordWrite Communications since February 2009.

Paul Furiga Shares Social Media Expertise on Radio Show

WordWrite CEO discusses presentation at Entrepreneur's Growth Conference

Paul Furiga, president and CEO of Pittsburgh public relations agency WordWrite Communications, was recently featured on American Entrepreneur Radio and interviewed by Susanne Caplan for “An Inside Look at the Upcoming Entrepreneur's Growth Conference." Furiga, a presenter at the conference, discussed how social media usage is an effective public relations tool because it is an affordable and useful way to reach your targeted audience.

Called a “master of public relations” by Caplan, Furiga’s approach to PR focuses on making his clients heroes in their own great, untold stories; achievable through the combination of social media and traditional PR tactics.

AE

Furiga believes social media provides business owners with the opportunity to have a real-time dialog with their customers and prospects by opening the lines of communication. Social media has become important because it provides immediate feedback, an opportunity to engage customers, and eventually a relationship between the communicator and the audience.

"Social media fuels the public relations process by using word-of-mouth marketing, one of the most powerful communication tools available," said Furiga. " It allows entrepreneurs to harness the opinions of industry leaders and effectively focus on what is important to their business or issue, letting people be brought together in a positive environment and engaged in the customer base in a ‘real and relatable way’.”

WordWrite effectively employs social media for its own clients. Most recently, the agency helped a senior living community tell its story through Twitter and Facebook to increase its annual spring fundraising donations.

Furiga presented at the Entrepreneur's Growth Conference on Thursday, June 10 at Duquesne University. His presentation, “Why PR is More Important—and More Affordable Than Ever: How Social Media & Online Networks Are Changing The Game" was with Jami Broom of Clicks Internet Marketing. Redstone Highlands Senior Living Communities Takes Fundraising Online

WordWrite assists client with implementation of new social media initiative

Pittsburgh PR agency WordWrite Communications continues to help its clients integrating social media into their communications. WordWrite's newest project is helping client Redstone Highlands Senior Living Communities establish an online presence for its annual spring fundraising outreach.

Barbara Christner

With assistance from WordWrite, Redstone built a presence on Facebook in 2009, connecting with residents’ families, employees and the community. From Redstone's Facebook page, it's easy to keep up with events, activities, day trips and more at the three Redstone campuses in Westmoreland County. After its success with Facebook, Redstone worked with WordWrite to develop a YouTube channel. Now, Redstone’s social media presence has expanded to Twitter, where it is using social media to explore the opportunities in online fundraising.

Each spring, Redstone conducts traditional outreach through direct mail and phone calls for Redstone’s Benevolent Care Fund, which supports residents who have outlived their personal financial resources. In the first two weeks of this year's campaign, which includes Redstone's @RedstoneFor30 Twitter identity, Redstone has raised $6,000 in its “Redstone For 30” campaign. The goal is to raise $30,000 in honor of Redstone's 30th anniversary.
