When a client needs copy, from social posts to long-form submissions — and everything in between — Dan’s the guy who makes it happen. He’s also editor of The Pittsburgh 100, responsible for planning, writing, editing and tightening the screws on WordWrite’s bi-weekly must-read publication. Dan pitches compelling stories to journalists, serves as the agency’s copy editor and assists with overall operations.
Prior to joining WordWrite in 2018, Dan was a self-proclaimed “newshound,” working a number of jobs in journalism. His foray into the news business began in tiny press boxes around Western Pennsylvania while covering high school sports and grew from there. Thousands of deadlines later, he joined Hearst Television’s national digital news desk, where he was responsible for churning out breaking news stories, videos and viral content. Those push alerts you’ve received over the years? Dan might’ve been responsible for some.
Dan’s a proud 2008 graduate of West Virginia University. He’s still trying to puzzle why his journalism degree is considered a science since he hasn’t touched a Bunsen burner since high school.
When not putting pen to paper (or finger to key), Dan is out helping his wife, a pediatrician, in a variety of advocacy activities focused on children’s health. In his spare time, he’s an avid movie watcher, book reader (history and pure escapist fare are his favorites), traveler and lover of food, often checking out the newest restaurants around the city.
Never be boring.
